any info or data for 35 whelen an 250gr nosler partitions???

i thought the loads i was given were speer, but turns out, nosler PT. awesomeness... i have 25X.

keen to hear any reports using in Whelen, an high or low Velocitys.

these are loaded with 51.8-52 gr of assuming Varget for now.

I use the Speer CFE223 data with the Partition bullet. Loaded to 3.340 OAL (works nice in my CVA Scout single shot) and drive them to 2630fps or so and flatten pretty much anything outside the pachyderms of the Big 5 (although not likely legal in most jurisdictions). You'd have to go to a .358 Norma Magnum or STA to get much more out of them and I don't know if most people need that kind of power. It sails past the .350 Remington Magnum.

I'll have to go look up my old data. I recall i mostly used 35 cal Speers and Honradys in my whelen. Saved the partitions for the 358 NM and STA. The Whelen just didnt push them fast enough to require a premium bullt, in my mind. I did use a fair amount of 225 partitions, they shot very well in the whelen and the 358 Win. - dan

at $160 per 50 for Nos PT, i wont be doing much more than firing the ones i have loaded here already..... sheeesh!

Dan , that was my curiosity peaked when i see them loaded 'light' per se at 52gr varget........... i did think they needed a fair skip in their step to do their best, otherwise essentially, a SP is just as better..

ideally i get the hornadys loaded one rainy day, an shelve the Speer for a raindy day once the novelty wears off the ruger , again lol.

I have found the noslers are no better bullet than the hornadys in 250gr
My norma shoots both well and the nosler costs over 3x as much.
Hornady holds together well and kills everything from deer to moose.
Never found the nosler worked better or even held together better.
Hornady had more retained weight after breaking the front shoulder of a moose than a nosler did the year before.
So i keep buying the hornadys.

yeah copy Gents.
il just use em up an see, the drama will be that as long as they shoot within 2 inch at 100, the charge is like 2200fps........ that itself leaves alot to be desired, but even so il get a good idea for future hornady/speer speed i wanna utiluze.

in this Calibre i think youre onto something here!

i think the partitions come into their own in smaller faster Cartridges an once up on the big .35 whelen class cartridges it doesnt matter as much, due to the fact the critters arnt super tough and the projectiles of any 250gr are reasonably adequate at the velocitys thrown!

good to hear about the Hornady success!
