I'm getting the buzz to get a 358 cal rifle...

2 things:

-Being that components can be scarce in Canada where are you guys finding 358 STA Brass?

-What are you using to form 358 STA Brass and your methods

Thanks folks!

Easiest I found to reform was 375 H&H. Neck it down, load with a starter load and the cheapest bullets you can find. Chamber, fire and you have your 358 STA. - dan

You don’t just find 358 STA brass as it was never a production cartridge- you have to make it from 7 STW or 8 REM Mag brass . 👍

always liked the 8 Mag
I've always liked the idea of hi powered 8s. 8mm Mauser is nice to shoot. I'd love to whip up an 8mm- 06 AI. Great Grandfather back in the sticks in MB had a 32 SP. Nice caliber but too many other good ones to fend off to really get a strong foot hold I guess. Same as the 35s... Keep the oddballs alive!

I still shoot an 8mm-06 AI. It's a good cartridge. I have quite a few Rem 185 gr bullets from back when they sold those for their 8 Mag. Works quite well. - dan

My son is building a 358 STA on a Ruger single shot action to match my .303
Half round half octagon barrel, upgraded wood, low power scope with quick release mounts, express sights, etc.
His gunny is trying to finish up a pile of work before he starts on it .
It will look.likevthis only with a slightly heavier barrel profile

That is a great looking rifle. I have considered the No 1 route on a build. Such a classic rifle and one I have yet to own- I did consider this project for it.

Thanks! Bill Leeper did this one for me and did an amazing job.
Too many features to list , but a big one is the quarter rib is machined right into the barrel insted of being screwed on s a seperte piece!
There is quite the story behind it, but the #3 pictured was actually the inspiration for Clay (from Prophet River Firearms) to push Lipsey's and Ruger to do a run of #1's in .303 Brit.
They wanted a minimum of 250 for a limited run, but the response was so big up here and Stateside that they brought it out as a Regular line feature gun that year in the Ruger#1.
I personally was hoping they would bring it it in an RSI, and there were a few , but they didn't really hit the market, Less than 25 IIRC
