For you 358 Winchester fans, is anyone loading 158 bullets for plinking. If so what would you recommend for a load?
I have everything ready to start loading for 200 gr. bullets and I would like to have a practice round.

158 gr. bullets ? Are those pistol bullets ?
The lightest practice bullets I use are 200 gr. jacketed rifle bullets because my hunting loads are either 225 or 250 gr.or a 300 cast GC .

Yes Kevan, they are pistol bullets. My plan is to load them to the same point of impact as the 200's out to 75 yards or so.
Should be lots of fun.

The 358 is an excellent round to work with.

I've used the 158 gr. speer gold dot in the 358 win, on small critters and water jugs. It will splatter vermin with the best of them.

48 gr win 748

or for a milder load:

20 gr of Alliant 2400, cci 200 primer
both at 2.350 COL

Thanks bam bam, that's what I am shooting for. I plan on trying H4895, Varget and 748 to see what works best.
