358 win build worth it?

My 338 FEDERAL is a TIKKA T3 I put in the long cartridge stop bolt and use the 30-06 lenght mags so i can seat bullets way further out and add in more powder for 338-06 Performance in the LITTLE case ! :dancingbanana: RJ

Neat-
I think that im missing a 338 Federal in my Arsenal, Ill off load this 9.3 T3, then get my New Zealand expedition Yr 1 under the Belt, then il have to drop one other rifle (3006 XL7) an try source a Tikka 338 Fed for the Sambar!
it should be very similiar to the 30-06, shouldnt it? bit fatter projectile an a tad heavier or perhaps 180gr Woodleighs for the Federal... :)

Or get a .338 federal or 338-06 barrel for you x7, with the savage style barrel nut swapping barrels should be easy and likely cheaper than the tikka especially with a bolt stop swap and new magazine. I'd say .338-06 might as well use that magazine length.

Now You are a Thinking Man!!

Thats a great Idea,.... seeing as i like the XL7 an use it as a no frills 'hunter', that would make great sense-

a new barrel in Aus is around $600 give or take, about the cost of the Marlin itself :D but a few hundred cheaper than a Tikka and the Federals are fairly hard to find in Aus (not many)

One of the CGN members had a beautiful little 358w ‘carbine’ built on a Swedish Mauser ‘96 action ... it was a lovely thing.

I just finished up loading some 220gr Speer Flat Nose Softpoints for my 358 BLR. Hoping to see some decent accuracy out of them. Seems to me it'll make a perfect 225 yards elk / moose buster. I put a 1-4x20mm leupold on it. Should pack enough of a wallop for any angry critters one might run into as well.
