360 Buckhammer

Allows people in straight wall states to hunt with a rifle caliber in a lever action that is not a 45/70 I guess. Wouldn’t most of those who want such a thing be using a 44 mag or 357? I guess it depends on if that segment of the market buys in

Comparisons to the 350 legend seem like wishful thinking; that round targets the segment of the straight wall market that uses semi autos and bolts it seems

Did my first Michigan hunt last fall and shot a nice doe on opening day with my Henry Big Boy in 45 Colt with my handloaded +P rounds (yes, I called Henry and they said that the published "lever gun" loads were fine in the Henry). My Henry Big Boy in 357 is my backup gun. While I could have used my shotgun with sabots or my modern inline muzzleloader, I wanted to use my rifle. The 300gr Hornady XTP went straight through the deer at about 50 yards and was easy to track and find about another 50 yards away in the forest.

If the 360 Buckhammer was available before I bought my Henry 45 Colt not sure I would have considered it. The fact that I have a 45 Colt pistol made the decision to get the rifle a no-brainer since I was already reloading for it (and no, I would NEVER shoot these +P loads from my pistol!)

It'll be interesting to see if this gets traction outside of the Henry guns it is being released with. Not a lot of factory options for 35cal centerfire cartridges these days...

Well, it looks like my idea of getting a single shot chambered in the old .35-40 Maynard (1882 version) just went by the boards, considering that dies & reamers for the 360 BuckHammer should be more readily available, although CH4-D has the dies & PT&G has the reamer specs for the old-timer.

Maybe even my custom long, heavy barrel Ruger #1 in .357 Magnum might need to be re-chambered as I already have one of Ruger's originals in .357 Magnum.

irony, im considering moving on my Whelen, Ruger hawkeye ....cos, well, Henry. why not LOL

to me its looking alot like my 375 BB ! but marlinesque with scopable modern rifle :)

Quite a bit less case capacity and a rimmed base.

Closer to the 35-30 of old, which is simply the full-length 30-30 necked up to 35 Cal. The 360 Buckhammer is about 0.250" shorter to meet certain hunting regs, and thus has a fair bit less case capacity as well.

It is a higher pressure case, looks to be about 300fps faster than the 35 Remington and can be chambered with a simple barrel swap on any 30-30 rifle.

I really wish we had straight wall hunting in shotgun areas, but that is not going to happen.

For straight walled States it is probably a great idea.
I have several 350 Legends and my 30-30s.
I don't see any need for them in my safe.
But who knows, Canada may do the same thing they did in the States and then I may get one.
Henry's are great rifles and WHOTEEWHO on Youtube did an accuracy test the other day.
My 350 Legends are my deer and bear guns due to severe shoulder injury.
They drop everything I shoot at as do my 30-30s.
