Hi fellow CGN reloaders,
I recently got a hold of some cast performance 360 grain .452 gas check bullets. Hodgdon has data for this bullet at 1.68" length, but the crimp groove on the bullet gives an OAL of 1.64". Does anyone know of any official data for this length?
I've tried 1 grain below the 1.68" OAL maximum, 20.0 gains of H110. Worked up from 19.0, nothing out of the ordinary but lower velocities than expected. 20 grains gave me 1,260 fps. Quickload gives the same pressure with 20.0 at 1.64" as with 21.0 (Hodgdon maximum) and 1.68"(Hodgdon OAL). I know the ranch hand I'm firing these out of has good pressure headroom but I'd still like to see some published numbers, these bullets take up a lot of case room and even a tiny amount of increased seating depth makes the pressure increase a LOT.
