365 days with Walther PPQ Navy SD

Anyone notice the part where one SOF Greek is shooting ballons from the hands of a second guy? Impressive, if a lot stupid. I fail to see how this rather unsafe display improves training. Imagine the loss if a expensively trained SOF operator had to retire after losing a hand. Stupid.

Ever been shot at? It's a distinctive sound, but if you've never been shot at, there are good odds that you won't recognize it for what it is. This type of training is common in military and paramilitary circles (outside of Canada) to habituate personnel to the sound of being shot at. The balloons are just for show.

mine is arriving today and I can't wait to shoot that thing. I own several P30L so it is going to be a tough one for the PPQ but I have high hopes!

It's a good trust and confidence building exercise. Hopefully buddy is holding a little on the high side of center.......
Seems logical for these guys to train with live ammo and no "firing line" as they may be called on to shoot past hostages and team members.....it's not like he was shooting apples off a head!

Right on, tagging this thread for interest!
I have to admit that your thread makes me a little anxious about my decision-making process... ;)
I had had a P99 for over a decade in my country of origin, and after sorting through all the licensing mess over here it seemed natural for me to go for the same model (which I did).
I've never actually considered PPQ as an option, but now I start having second thoughts...
It would be interesting to see someone starting a separate thread to compare PPQ with P99. Anybody here up for the challenge? ;)

P.S. The video is a tad tacky - but hey, it's sales material, so what else can be expected? The music, though, is very... Invigorating is the term? ;)

Most likely that would work, however You need to remove the protector when You taking the pistol apart.
To remove the barrel from the slide, You need to remove the protector first.

Hey Nestor, how about putting blue thread lock to the thread protector, that should keep it in place.

I saw a youtube video where they used teflon tape to stop the thread protector from unscrewing. I'll be trying that if it's an issue with mine...

that is a great idea.

Anyone else noticing that the finish on the slide is rather delicate? in mine, only after 50 rounds it has little chips/marks due to the brass hitting the slide on extraction, more precisely around the ejection port. Not that I care but it does not happen in other guns...like in my P30, finish is pristine after 200 rounds, not to mention that the finish in the P30 is a lot better, harder and resistant IMHO.

I also noticed that the chamber is fluted same as in the P30, with the difference that the P30 can resist bigger tolerances and longer COLs for different types of bullets also the flute portion on the PPQ seems shorter (as per the marks on the ejected brass).
I have had to adjust my reloads to make them work in the PPQ, (using CAMPRO hollow points to 1.120-5), it would not cycle with anything longer than 1.130 whereas the P30 will feed, shoot and extract pretty much anything I feed to it. So, that is a bit finicky in my book. Now, it probably shoots FMJ (which are always slimmer) and always longer in the COL department, didn't try any but I am sure they work fine since most factory ammo is around 1.140 or more.

I sounds like a HK kool aid drinker, sorry, I am just comparing it to what I have in hand now. I would compare it to a Glock, but I only shoot ergonomically designed firearms and not 2x4s. Ok, I am going to hide behind a rock now! later. lol

never used those bullets so I don't know and sorry for the off topic comment, my point was that chambers are different while sharing some similarities, that is all.
