Sir, what's the deal with the cord wrapped scope? Just to have cordage along "in case," or does it serve some purpose?

And there seem to be skin colored tension bandage on the scope, just in case a white guy, a brown guy and a black guy all sprain their ankles while out on a hunt.

Couldn't tell you, or tell you what purpose it's ment to serve. More of a 'decorative' touch in the mind of the previous owner. It's something that I'm sure I'll remove before too long but for the time being......... The leather wrap on the lever, that I can understand, but not the rest.
