375 A-bolt medallion or kleingunther k-17

I can comment only on the A-Bolt from personal experience.

I would avoid it like the plague. The stock is one of the worst out there for a 375Magum rifle. I owned one and the butt on my 375 was smaller than the butt on my A-Bolt 22/250.

Check the pics. The small butt pad came of an A-Bolt 375H&H. The other came off a standard remington stock. You decide ......

Thanks for the info, any other problems besides the recoil pad.A guy could always go aftermarket.
You missed the point....... Yes, you can put a better pad on it, but the stock is very small and a new pad won't change this.

If you are totally smitten by the Browning, go for it, but there are much better 375s out there. The mag system is kinda wonky, the stock is too small, the bbl is too long, the finish is way too pretty, the trigger is very complicated. A CZ would be a much better choice.

A 375 shoud have a stock with a wide comb and be thick through the butt. The Limbsaver in the pic is going on my next 375. It is a grind to fit pad, but won't be very much smaller when installed.

I was looking at the A-Bolt when I was purchasing a 375; I decided against it. The butt area is small (as mentioned by SuperCub), which increases the pounds per square inch impact on your shoulder. The gun is also light compared to other 375s, which will reduce recoil dampening from gravity. One guy I talked to that has one said that the Remington factory ammo smashed the mag to pieces; he siad the ammo was too long, but the mag was aslo most likely just barely big enough to do the job. My boss also had an A-Bolt mag just fall apart in his hands when he went to put it in his rifle last deer season; luckily he had an extra.

I decided against the A-Bolt and actually went to a Ruger #1H stainless since there were no other mid ranged priced lefty 375s out there. I may be getting rid of it if I can ever get my hands on one of the new CZ 550's though.

Throw some other rifles into the mix so you have a possibility of choosing a good one! I would not choose either one of these for a 375; or anything else, for that matter. Regards, Bill
