.375 club, you in?

I have a 2012 Winchester Model 70 Alaskan to commemorate the 375 H&H's 100 year birthday. It helps me day dream about grizzly hunting on the west coast and into Alaska. Its one hell of a shooter too. Pretty much any bullet I've tried in the 260 to 270 range (Nosler, Speer, Hornady) with a max dose of RL15 and its very accurate. I've carried it on a few moose and deer trips but have not shot anything with it yet.

It shoots so nice I have really been thinking about one of those BAR's at Trad Ex in 9.3 x62

Next up is a M70 Alaskan. It weighs a tiny bit less than my M70 Super-grade feather-weight in .270, which sort of makes a person feel like carrying it on ordinary hunts. Trajectory with 235s is about the same as 300 win or other run of the mill Magnums out to 500. That sort of makes a guy feel like taking it hunting too.

What powder with the 235's? I have a bunch I picked up at a gun show.

Can I play to?? I have a Winchester 94 xtr in .375 Winchester, it was my grandfathers rifle. Ammo is tuff to find so I’m going to reload, just need some recipes.

If I ever got my hands on a rifle like yours I'd be rechambering it to 375JDJ = 444 Marlin brass necked down.

My .375 Ruger is built on a FN Action(actually a JC Higgins from Sears in .270 Win). Bill Leeper did all the required metal work on the action and rebarreled it with a 21” McGowan. Timney trigger. Tally steel rings/bases. Talley-style bolt handle.

Mint man! im a model 94 .375 fanatic aswell!

They are pretty awesome and over over looked in my opinion..... i can see it doing anything a 9.3x57 does myself..

i load hard cast commercial at around 1800 fps with AR2207..... 30 odd grains will be a good start for a 220gr or so jacketed, if you find flat noses!

PM me if ya wanna talk .375BB

nobody said it but this a great work done and a beautiful 375 ruger.

I just picked up a CZ 550 safari magnum in 375 H&H on the EE. I was looking at getting a Sauer 202 or 404 barrel from MD Charlton's closeout but the price of a barrel and mag was more than Prophet River was selling their new Sako 85 in 375 H&H, and double the price of this nice CZ550. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. It's substantially heavier than my CZ550 FS in 9.3x62 and given how pleased I am with the performance of the latter, I can't really picture myself actually using the 375 to hunt (yet). I guess Decker9's grandmother was tougher than I am.

For real though, awesome story about your grandmother Decker9!

Finally managed to figure out my computer, ill see if i can get these photos to load.

My main moose rifle, is a pre 64 model 70 chambered in .375 h&h. My grandmother bought it new in 1954 and was her main hunting rifle. I inherited it after my grandad passed in '98. The stock that was on it, was quite short for me, so i opted to follow grandads foot steps, and build a stock for it with my own hands. A year later, and more hours then i can remember, i had this stock built and finished.

Dear Mr. M. Butler

Please stop posting pictures of your gorgeous rifle all over the internet. Two seconds after I spotted this rifle for sale at my favorite Lloydminster gunstore I thought I better just take a few deep breaths before I ran to get my credit card.

My wife intercepted me and asked if I'd take the recycling down the drive way for pickup. I got back into the house, went to my laptop and the damn rifle was gone! Vanished as if it never existed. It was like it was a mirage in the desert or a dream or something mythical.

A deep depression came over me... My M70 supergrade 375 seemed very plain, ordinary, forgetable. My RSM 375 with it's exceptional circassian seemed like an old 2x4, a chunk of lumber, a promise unfulfilled.

As my malaise worsened I signed into my African Hunting account to ease my grief.............

To see this rifle displayed in high resolution photo after photo after photo. Now here you are dragging it in front my face again and again. Now topped with the perfect rings and scope.

I just know I'll come back again and again to stare and envy

Now you have to tell me it shoots great.........you are a cruel cruel man Mr. Butler

That was so well written I had to show it to my wife! I know when I looked at it for sale it made me jump a bit. I asked clay a question about it and Emailed Wayne at AHR , both replied very fast but I think I hit purchase before they even replied. I haven't ever seen one for sale up here, let alone one that came with two stocks, two sets of rings, and a VX-6 scope.

A rifle like that deserves to go to Africa, I hope when the world starts to get back to normal I will go.

It does make my other 375's look a bit plain .

Thanks so much for the comment Heddok, it really made my day!

Craig

Well I was happy to see it got purchased by some one who truly appreciates it. I was born and raised in Edmonton and lived there until retirement 10 years ago..... So I'm also happy it was a fellow Edmontonian who grabbed it.

I want to see a photo of you standing over a great big Cape buffalo with that rifle. I think some very good deals will be coming up in the next 2 years.

Enjoy
Brad
