.375 H&H group

w:h:You got it made. :D

We rock the BRNO 602 (prone/bipod) out to 500+yd., with 80'ish grains of IMR 4350 under the Horn. 270gr. S.P.. (work up in your gun)

So many smiles, from so many <new to medium bore> gunners over the past 20 years.

The gongs?, they take a serious beating;).

First reloads that I'm going to try will be using H-414 (74.0 - 80.0 gr.) and Hornady 270 grain bullets. Got them loaded already but will keep IMR 4350 available if the 414 doesn't work.

Ordered a Kick-Eze from Brownells this morning, shipped 2 hrs later.

Weighed the rifle, scope, and magazine with 3 rounds today...............only 8.6 lbs No wonder it thumped my poor old bones!

Sounds like a plan sniper.:)
If H414 works out, bonus, it'll drop from the measure .... no need to trickle each charge to weight.

At 8.6 pounds all up, methinks a firm grip on the forend may be desireable .... from any/every shooting position. ;)

The BRNO is not too bad from prone/bipod .... but, is more than 2 lb's heavier than your Browning.

I have since sold it but a few years back I had a Ruger No. 1 in 375 H&H. Just prior to that my Son In Law lent me his custom 375 H&H, based on a Sako action, to reload for and 'play' with. The following is a scan of a couple of targets I shot with it and my load info used.

Crap, and here I just dropped my .458 off to get the Pachmayr swapped out for a Limbsaver. Now I'll have to do it all over again with a Kick-eze.At least I'll be able to get a side by side comparison.:) I've got that puppy clocking 2350 fps with 450s now, and its trying to assert itself.

Funny thing, I've never thought of the .375 as much of a kicker, not only compared with the bigger ones with double the thrust but some considerably smaller ones as well.

I have had good accuracy and hunting luck with H414 and W760 which is exactly the same powder. The speeds given in the reloading manuals must have been written by a hopeless optomist though. Reloader 15 was worth 150 fps with the 270s in the same rifles, and shoots every bit as well.
