375 Raptor

Who’d you order the barrel from/through?

Be sure to post any updates on build and accuracy / load development.

Cheers

Blue Chip Precision, I’m not very happy with him though. If I didn’t have a deposit with him, I would order a barrel from X-Caliber, I would have had it already and it would have been cheaper.

Very nice!

Do you mind if I ask you where to find ammo or reloading dies?

I am looking to do the same for a while but can't really find much info like where to get dies and reloading data etc.

Thanks

The barrel maker was going to make me dies, you can order them from CH4D. I was going to order a Giraud trimmer and make my own brass from 308 brass.

Awesome thank you for your prompt reply.

Please keep us updated with your build and would love to see the finished product.

Also, do you have any load data?

I paid a deposit Feb 6. He said it would be 3-5 weeks to get the blank and 2 weeks to contour and chamber.

I messaged him May 9th and he said he forgot. He was wondering why he had an extra blank. He wanted me to source all the parts that he had listed on the invoice.

I asked for my deposit back and he refused, I have to put my barrel on consignment or get him to ship it back to me.

No, if I’ve had this many issues with this guy already, I’ll probably have a lot more.

I’m going to order an X Caliber when they go on sale again.
Hope you resolve this with them in a timely manner.

Please let me know if you see them go on sale as I am very interested to get one as well.

Thanks a million.

Cheers

So $1200 for a barrel?
That seems excessive, I've had barrels spun up for me for under $600 including a McGowan blank and all the machining. Why do you want the 375R so bad you're willing to pay that much? Why not just go 338 Federal?

I just finished reading up on the 375 and it does sound impressive and should make a great hunting round, just seems like an awfully expensive conversion just to try something new.
I'm curious to know how they are getting such high velocities considering it should have a very similar case capacity to the 308 but is launching a heavier projectile.

I am looking forward to reading what you think of it once it's done, if it becomes more popular and prices come down to normal barrel costs I would be interested in giving it a try.

The only part of the review I read that I didn't like was that they compared it to a 300BLK saying it delivers 60% more energy at 100 yards, that seems like a really poor cartridge to compare it to unless it's not really much of an improvement over other full size cartridges. Not much different than comparing the 308win to a 223rem, apples to oranges except they both look the same once the neck is punched out that far.

This was a neat one I found

The quote includes dies too. I’ve built two 338 Federal Stag 10s with McGowen barrels. They were $700 each.

The X-Caliber will be roughly $300 CAD with the discount. It will be a bit more with import and shipping fees though. So I'm going with that. I was really happy with the other barrel I got.
