LH Ruger Alaskan

Rugers reply when I wrote and asked the same question was "never gonna happen".

About a week later I saw (and bought:D) this on gunsamerica.com-

Rumor has it that a run of 100 were made. They show up on the auction sites occasionally.

It's not for sale.............. yet.;)

I don't even have it yet. The importation process is a rather lengthy one. Should have it in a few weeks though...

If you really want one just find one in the states and call Clay @ Prophet River about his import service. Except for the money (US/Canada exchange) it's quite painless....:)

Electric City

That's Kevin @ Electric City Shooter's Supply. Great guy to deal with. His price on these rifles has stayed relatively reasonable too. Considering some listed at $1100-1200USD on Gunbroker and Gunsamerica over the last few weeks.

Between Kevin and Clay I would not hesitate to buy another firearm out of the States. It's got to be something you just can't get here though......

Beauty rifle. I almost bought the African when I bought my Alaskan. I am a huge fan of the wood/blue combo. If you have a chrono I would be interested in the velocity of the factory Hornady 270 grain SP-RP, if you shoot any, from the 23" barrel. Those factory shells went average of 2720 FPS from my 20" Alaskan. If you reload, try the Gatehouse load of 260 grain Accubond, 84 grains H4350. I get 2712 FPS and 5/8" groups if I can hold on......

I haven''t had it to the range yet, still waiting on glass I ordered for it 3 weeks ago. I mounted the Weaver just for kicks. I have a box of factory 270s standing by so I will let you know what they clock. Thanks for the load, I'll see how it goes, I've got everything I need except the brass :bangHead::bangHead: I guess if I got off my ass and wasted some factory stuff I'd have that licked too....

Nice rifle! I'd splurge for one of those myself if I was a lefty. Ruger needs to do something better than those ugly Hogues. That laminated is a big improvement.

x2

I couldn't be happier with the McMillan stock I put on my Alaskan...The Hogue is clubby, the Mac makes the rifle insanely ergonomic.:p

Thanks man. That most have been hard for you..... even thinking about being a 'reject'......:p:):)

I'm pretty pumped about this one. For the summer it'll get a sling & ammo and go backpacking. Might need some 'scope advice' come fall.

Might get a McMillan down the road to be like Gate..... or to lighten it up.Can't decide which.:)
