375 Ruger Brass is unattainable

Yup, it's not rocket science, I stocked up on 300 rounds of .375 H&H from 3 different sources, none of which were retail outlets.

We got two of them. Dan had his name on the waiting list. They had got more than five boxes in but not too sure how long it lasted.

I found another tray of them, in a different stack, today. I've got so much that I can't keep track of it all!! :runaway:

But apparently it's ULTRA $$$ and HARD TO GET!!:slap:

I think some people tend to apply 1950's thinking to new cartridges in the present day:rolleyes:

I just wanted to see how easy it would be to get the same velocity as the "KING", and it WAS easy! :dancingbanana:

I will prolley back her of to 2600-2700fps.

BTW ........ NFLD is a long way from NB, but they don't know that in Ont. either. :)

Heck, the King can get 3000fps from a 300gr bullet If you were to overload it, too...:)

Customs don't neccesarily show pressure signs like factory rifles. You see it more in the factory stuff because they are probably a bit out of square, so lock up on you when you hit high pressures, while customs are all true, and don't do it so much..

Doesn't mean you aren't over the top, just means you have a square action.

There is no free lunch. The 300WSM will NOT get 300WM velocities when both are loaded tot he same pressure, and the 375-338 won't match the 375 H&H or 375 Ruger when done the same, because the 375-338 doesn't have the same case capacity of the H&H.

And, everyone that has a "N" in front of thier province name (Newfoundland, Nova SCotia, New Brunswick) is a newfie to us out west.:)
 
True enough. Lunch is not free.

I'm not a big velocity freak anyways. I'd rather reasonable velocity with accuracy, consistency and reliability. If I'd wanted more velocity, I would have gone with another case like a 375AI or 375Wannaby or (gasp) a 375Ruger.

I think velocity freaks would be disappointed with the New King, too, as it only gets a wee bit more than the H&H. Of course, that's the whole point of the cartridge, and why it is so good, and why it is the New King, and the super fast 375's will never be King.:p:D

Gatehouse, thanks for the load info. I am getting 2712 fps and groups in the 7/8" range.

The price must of dropped!! When I had mine 8-9 years ago Norma brass was running $180/50. I had more cash tied up in brass than in the rifle. I figured by now it would be pushing $200/50.

A $150/50 is still too much for me to be interested in another one, although a .416 Ultra might be interesting.

I recently got another 100 .375 Ruger from Bruno Gross, although his price was a bit high and I waited quite a while to get it.

So $31.89 for (20) Hornady is a good price?
 
Now that's really interesting. I didn't realize that Hornady made Rigby brass, but a quick check to their web page shows the price for Rigby brass actually less than .375 Ruger brass. Where was this stuff 10 years ago??
 
Has the Hornady .416 Rigby ammo and brass finally made it's appearance? They announced it a long time ago, but it seems like that is as far as it went. I bought Norma brass for $156 /50 from Epps, until I found some for $77/50 on ebay and stocked up. That source seems to have dried up. Luckily the cases seem to last forever for practice, and 50 new ones for an elephant hunt isn't that much of a strain.
