.375 Ruger....

I am somewhat of a Ruger rifle fan, however there have been no small number of Ruger 77 rifles in 350 Rem Mag that had feeding problems, as well.

What I do not understand is how these rifles, as well as the 375s, get out of a factory with such problems? Is there not a functioning test somewhere along the way?
Ted

I've only had two Ruger M-77's but don't recall having accuracy or functioning problems with either. :redface:I ended up trading them off for a couple of other items I found ;)I couldn't live without. The last one was in .458WM and the gentleman who purchased it has no inclination to part with it. My only 'criticism' of the M-77, on the earlier models I had, was the stock which seemed a little too 'substancial' for my liking.

I have had only had problems with the 350 Mag. All the others, 270, 7X57, 30-06, 338, fed without a hiccup. As well, everyone I know who had a 77 in 350 complained about the feeding.

I can't wait for Doug to get to testing the .375 Ruger. Just want to get a decent opinion of what he can get out of the round. I believe, even though he is a H & H fan, I think he will give an unbiased view, and tell it like it is. He looks too crusty to not be that way. (I like a good grizzled looking guy, I always think they are trustworthy)

Agreed. He has the firearms, the knowledge and field experience on game that most of us can only dream about.

I'm not so sure about that, his good hearted feud with Gatehouse needs a somewhat negative response to continue this debate.

From what I can gather on here, Douglas would present the honest goods regardless
of conflicting issues with the yapper.
If I had to toss a life preserver out there, guess who would be the recipient?

Thanks

Was hoping to see if it had been dug out of a moose. :)

I bought them mostly to just shoot out to 500 yards with, but I'm sure they won't bounce off an animal, either. :)

sorry not dug out of a animal yet. Hope to put them to use on a bear this spring. I have my doubts on a recovery.
they are very accurate in my rifle.

while we are at it and seeing how 375Ruger threads are some of the longest threads on the site

375 Ruger 20" barrel
80.0g IMR4350
CCI 250mag
Hornady brass
300g Sierra SBT 0.475 BC
COL- 3.400"

100yds = 1.5" high ( .890")
200yds = 2.5" Low
300yds = 6.0" Low
400yds = 21.0" Low (4.5" 3 shots)

That's a flat shooting cannon.

I must admit. I got kissed by the scope yesterday shooting prone off a bi-pod.

Here's the JBM table for that bullet at 2800 fps.

Calculated Table

Mathematically generated tables do not predict exactly what one will have on the range, however JBM Ballistics are about as close as they come.

Looking at the first two columns, your results are near 2800.

@Why Not?
that's exactly how I did my figuring.
the numbers I posted before were actually shot and measured

Is it just me or dose that seam awfully fast and flat for a 300g bullet

I've shot the 300 accubond over a chronograph, I seem to remember velocity in the 2650ish range, that's out of a 22" barrel using Win 760. I have to admit though, as someone who has bad-mouthed Hornady brass for being to soft in the head area to support stout loads, the 375 cases don't seem to display any of this. Makes me want to build a 7LRM.

What is interesting is that IMR shows. 2632fps with that load and a 300 gr bullet. Which goes to show once again why you need to check your trajectory rather than just relying on charts. :)
