375 Ruger

Between Boddington and some of the posters on AR, the truth about the physical effects of shooting a .375 rifle is going to be hard to find. Aside from it's wonderful versatility, the .375 H&H is the African standard for clients because it produces recoil which can be tolerated by an occasional shooter, in a rifle which typically weighs 9.5 pounds. What is going to come out of the .375 Ruger propaganda are folks who will want 6.5 or 7 pound scout style rifles in .375 Ruger. Unless you simply do not care about recoil, you will find any rifle built along those lines is going to bite when you press the trigger. Shooting such a rifle well, if recoil disturbs you, is difficult. I think lots of folks are going to become disillusioned with powerful rifles and go back to shooting elk with .243's.
 
Some fellow over on 24 hr shot his 375 Ruger over a chrono the other day and posted these numbers for factory 270gr bullets

fired 4 shots through the Chrony at 12 yards today and got:

2,789
2,787
2,797
2,780

This is in line wiht the H&H, so there you have it.:)
 
Well, it looks like Ruger has intorduced a stinaless model, as rumoured...

It looks nicely set up for much of BC use, from open areas to thicker bush. Instead of having one built, I think I will attempt to buy one of these:p

Save that Mdl 70 action for something else, if I don't liek the Ruger, I can always rebarrel the Mdl 70 Action to 375 H&H!:D

Now just gotta find one on this side of the border, which coudl prove challenging...:bangHead:
 
Lebaron lists the wood/blued African in .375 ruger on their site. They have it at 6.5 lbs, is that right? Seems kinda light.

I believe that those figures came fomr a 23" barrel, but I suspect the 20" version woudln't lose too much speed!:)

Actually, I htink Ruger has, from it's very begining, offered interesting products that people want/need. Even if they didn't know they needed them before they existed.

Probably why Ruger is north americas largest gun manufacturer.
