hey all, my store is acquiring a just like new unfired winchester 94 big bore in 375 win. Great shape and the original tags are still on the lever handle just a small crack on the forestock from I would think dry storage. Anyhow, Where does a guy find ammo? None of my supplies have nor can I find online, any luck any where else?

winchester still make them i live in quebec and see them all the time at sail,i have a full box and a box of empty shell if your interested but shipping is going to be a bit high

Factory ammo doesn’t seem to be very common, but you can usually sniff some out if you’re willing to pay shipping. Brass comes around moderately easy. Cast bullets are the easiest option, but jacketed bullets in flat point are near impossible to source. Speer 235gr spires can’t be flattened down, Hornadys been discontinued for a few years. Barnes makes for the 38/55 which would work, but even then not east to find.
If the price is right, don’t shy away from it. They are a mild mannered shooting rifle. If you buy it, send me a PM and I could share more info if you want.

Merry Christmas!

Fun cartridge Basically a modern version of 3855 More power/pressure and more robust brass.

Straightwall cases are cool...altho they are what they are for ballistic efficiency.

Aftermarket brass is available...so is ammo altho can be hard to find and you will pay dearly.

You can shoot 3855 ammo in it...but NOT the other way around...altho 3855 is just as hard and expensive to get not much point altho it does offer an option.

Can be a fun plinker with lighter cast bullet loads and even shoot BP rds for a show.

The rifles for this series of "BigBore" cartridges are unique..the receiver has a broad rear shoulder and apparently stronger metalurgy to help the 94 action hold up to these much higher pressure cartirdges.....came in 375, 356 and 307....all proprietary Winchester cartridges.
This series of rifles are aslo built to a high standard of build quality/fit/finish than run of the mill 94s ....tight tolerances, smooth machining and tooling, nicley polished and blued and typically very nice lumber too.
Despite this they don't display superior accuracy ...at least nothing more than run of the mill 94 performance...which is fine for its intended mission as a medium range powerful stomper.

Handsome well built fun rifles....the 356 and 375 kick hard...altho not a rifle one would sit at the bench with so no issue.....lighter cast bullet loads a good go to plink/target shoot/small game with.

They command a bit highger prices due to their uniqueness and less so their build quality.....altho can be hard to sell...mostly due to the pricey hard to find ammo.

I like my 375....one of the most handsome rifles i own IMO...and to many others

Welcome to the .375 "Big Bore" gang!

G’day,
I acquired a Win 375 AE a few years back and a Marlin 375. I kept the Marlin as it could be easily scoped and I found it a more pleasant “big bore” compared to the 45-70. It is unique in its own way, but imo nothing to make it a special cartridge. I was fortunate to score several boxes of WW 200gr from SAIL at the same time. I see they still have it listed in their inventories, but in store pick up only. I plan on keeping my Marlin as I enjoy shooting it. Ammo is around and still being run up by Winchester as far as I can deem.

Winchester still makes it, but in limited quantities. Easier to get handloading stuff. Barnes and Sierra make great bullets for these.
