.375?

Cz 550

A CZ 550 Magnum in .375 H&H would fit the bill nicely:cool:

I guy at the range last weekend had one of those CZ 550 rifles. He let me take a poke with it, nice gun and not much kick. I was thinking about that model but I realy want a stainless rifle.
I'll look into the new Ruger.

Thanks....Fulldraw

I intend on getting a 375 Rger. I just think the damn hting looks cool....

I have a Mdl 70 action sitting here, which was goign to become a 375H&H or 375 Weatherby...But thten the Ruger was announced and I got all giddy.:runaway:

Not sure if I will buy Rugers "Alaskan" model, or have one built in stainless.

I am a big RUM fan, but for me the .375 is really about the 375 H&H (or .416 rigby just 'cause its bigger) in a dangerous game rifle with a control round feed action...thanks but no push feed for me if I will be chasing something worthy of the .375 (e.g., Cape buff, or brown bear).

As such, it would have to be (no other choice for the $$ IMO) the Ruger M77 Magnum Rifle in .375 H&H. The features on this rifle are along the lines of a full custom work of art!

I was intrigued from the get go on the 375 Ruger too. Back when details were sketchy i assumed they would be in the new 'hawkeye' design which is pretty much the same price range as the standard mk11s. But now I see its just the 'Alaskan' for well over a grand or the 'Safari' or what ever it is for lots more  Building probably isn't a bad idea..

I was checking out the .375 Ruger African over on Joe's site (RealGuns) and me and one of the guy's here at work decided that we each gots to get one :D Looks like it'll be a year or so before us Canucks will see 'em :(

I have to agree with dpopl8r. Had a nice log fondle of a ruger safari in 458 lott. The nicest rifle I have seen in a long time. Recently looked at a bunch of rifles from kimber, CZ, Rem et al. and was not overly impressed, but the Ruger was very nice. Good balance, nice feel, great finish; the only thing I would change is that I would rust black it right away - I am not a big fan of hot bluing. This is the only rifle in this price range that I have considered liquidating part of my collection to obtain..... if only they made a left handed version:(

375 H&H in a CRF is classic. The "big" bores work with a heavy bullet at moderate velocity. As for the new Ruger rifle, compare it's weight to their RSM in 375 H&H.

:D Who ever gets one of those light 375's please make a video

Actually, one of my .375 H&Hs weighs 7 pounds 4 oz. with the iron sights (which is how I've been using it), and it's quite comfortable. It's sure nice to carry!

I think the way the stock fits means a lot.

I sold my last 375 becaue it was ttoo heavy!!:runaway:

Sure, it didn't kick much- Very little, really- but it was a ##### to pack around BC. Good rifle, just not what I need.

I think a sensible weiht for a hunting rifle in the 375 H&H class is about 9 lbs, scope in.;)

I like the H&H but a lighter 375 sounds good, I'd load with these 250 gr Sierras and recoil should be ok. This one recovered from a moose still at 238 grs and over .75". :)

I think a 9 pound RUM would be WAY more fun than I want. I'm curious about the 375 Ruger. Might be the rifle I buy for a bear hunt I may take someday. Should always have a new rifle for those hunts you may go on. Wouldn't want to get et by a bear because you tried to get by with a rifle that might be marginal.

I know a guy that got an H&H that way once. He's my hero!

Don't recall the exact load Levi, as I sold the Brno:( that fired it a few years ago and the dies with the data went with it, I do recall the Chrony at close to 3000fps though. I have aquired another 375 though so will be playing with it again.

Sound nice indeed.

Now where is the video of you shooting it!!:D :D :D

Overkill!!!!

Hi,

Unless you are going on an African safari for Cape Buffalo a 375 is not necessary for any North American big game other than perhaps an alaskan brown bear. I think it's too big, too much recoil, and most impotantly way too much damage to the animal you are hunting. If you like BIG bullets I would go with a 300 or 338. Both of these are still more that enough!!! The 375 however is just not necessary. You are better off getting a powder loaded canon from an old pirate ship.
