i think there pretty close to being equal in performance. that said i built a h&h because i think there the clasic 375 and i like the look. if i wanted to buy a 375 off the rack on a buget i would go with the ruger.

Im voting 375 H&H. I'd like a stainless one in a Ruger #1. I 375 Ruger in a #1 would be okay too I guess.

Just limited availability of brass, bullets, etc for the 375 Ruger....at least now anyways.

For me it depends on the rifle...

For a single shot, I'd get this one in .375Ruger...

For a bolt, it would be a toss up between the Ruger Alaskan in .375 Ruger (although I'd change out the stock.)...

Or the Sako 85 Kodiak in .375 H&H...

Not sure about the 375 ruger but the recoil on my Brno 602 (375 h&h) is slightly more than firing a 3" slug from my brother in law's Beretta 1201F (really light synthetic stock 28" barrel about 6.5#).

I never felt the recoil when firing at game but you feel a little more when you firing off the bench at the range during sight in or practicing.

I bet most people who own the h&h might agree that its a lot better than many people would think and remember most bolt action rifle chambered for this round weight between 10 to 12 pounds with scope and rounds in the magazine.

My 375 Browning is a lot more pleasant to shoot than several other rifles in my safe, but when I bought it in the '60s I did have second thoughts because I weighed 135 lbs. soaking wet and since then Father Time hasn't been too kind to my waistline.....:(

I voted for the Ruger because I have one and like it. It hammers at both ends. I don't really like recoil, but I can hold onto this well enough to shoot sub-MOA groups with my full power handloads.

There is a good point for every .375 and I have had the H&H for over 30 yrs. and am very proficient with it and that is what you should be with whatever you choose.:owned:
