375gr load 45-70

I need some loads for some 375 gr bullets I bought for my 45-70, these are lead pb bullets BHN 15, for hunting ! Thanks

I would try IMR 3031 - start at 55.0 grs then work up carefully. 58.0grs would be max in a modern - strong rifle. If you are using a chronograph to check your loads, stop when you reach 2000 fps.

Thanks ! I'm shooting a Marlin 1985, I have a crony, but i don't think one would get to 2000fps with this bullet without leading the barrel !

IMR 4198 should max out about 42 grains, just guestimating by looking at loads for the 420 grain cast and the 322 grain cast at Marlin strength in Lymans cast bullet handbook.

PLEASE realize this is a guestimate

I'd suggest a start about 37 grains.
