Do you need a gas check with this round?

What lead hardness? Is it possible to use pure soft lead?

Will FFFg work or is FFg required?

Thanks.

A card or LDP wad under the bullet is all you need. Lead will bump up (shorten and expand) when used with black powder.

The hardest lead recommended is 1 part tin to 20 parts lead; what ever hardness that happens to be. A lot of BP shooters use 1 to 30 and some even 1 to 40 alloy.

In .40, .45 & .50 we used FFG or so called Rifle Powder if that helps

The over powder card is a good idea. FFF will work fine but results might be slightly better with FF.

I've used a lot of wheel weight in my BPCR's but the softer mixes usually work better. Finding the right lube can make a huge difference. SPG is great if you are buying but many people make their own from mixtures of bees wax, olive oil, lanolin, crisco and other naturally sourced oils.

if you would like you can PM me and i can send you a sample of my Black powder Lube.
it is similar to SPG and folks that get it from me say they wont need to use SPG anymore after trying this stuff.

cheers

Thanks for the offer. I make a 50/50/10 Beewax/Crisco/Olive Oil lube that seems to work okay in my revolvers.
