Hey guys, my father just shoed me this that he had since a long time.

its a 38-55 ammo and its wrote dominion on the rim. I just want to know some

information about this ammo and why it is on a stripper clip?(clip have CIDAQ-65

mark on it.) I have 7 bullets (all show in picture. I also have the 38-55 win94

lever action rifle which probably used to fed theses. Thanks

I also noticed that when i shake the bullets i hear the powder moving. (sorry i dont know if its normal i just shot .22 bullets)

Thanks.

I also have a lot of old 38-55 Dominion ammo. None with stripper clips though. Perhaps they were arranged this way so they did not roll around in a pocket or made the packaging easier.Just a thought.

There is a lot of room in those old brass casings left empty, Heavy bullets and light powder loads. I have found a few misfires that the powder had formed a hard mass in the casing...perhaps from sitting for so long.

"...why it is on a stripper clip?..." Your da or whoever he got it from put it on the clips. They're stripper clips made for a CF FN C1A1. I've put .243 and .30-06 on the same clips. They're handy for carrying 5 rounds in a pocket.
Dominion ammo is at least 40 or so years old. 'Dominion' was a CIL brand name. It might even pre-date CIL's ownership. The Dominion Cartridge Company was a 19th Century Canadian ammo maker. It may or may not go bang. It may have some collector value too.
.38-55 ammo and brass isn't hard to come by. Winchester, oddly enough, loads a 255 grain SP bullet. Epp's carries it.

Here's an interesting piece of trivia regarding "Dominion" and "CIL" 38-55 ammo. While the American firms were loading that 255 grain bullet to about 1320 fps, Dominion was loading it to about 1600 fps, making it quite a bit superior to the stuff loaded by Winchester et al. I had a buddy who shot all manner of big game with a Model 94 in 38-55, and he loved that Dominion ammo, said it killed better than the slower stuff, and shot a bit flatter too. Regards, Eagleye.
