i may have chance to get a 94(miroku) and i was wondering if i could load these up more than the old data that i have 255gr at 1230fps, better off with a 30-30

In actual fact, in a modern M94, you can reach 1750-1800 with a 255 grain jacketed bullet.
This is potent stuff, and kills deer like magic.
I am using H322 in my M94 [built in 1979] I have aperture sights on it and will shoot 1.25 moa
consistently, using the Barnes .377 diameter FNSP bullet.
Other powders that work well are N135, IMR 3031, Norma 202. Dave.

They also had a factory 1600fps load ..............dead is dead even at 1200fps. I had a 1950's 30-30 Marlin re-bored to 38-55 1-16" twist .376 groove to be able to use both .375 and .377 bullets.

HI; I shoot a Winchester 94 Miroku and in the 38-55 it cycles and shoots smooth and good. Trigger is stiff, internals are not like the old Win 94s, but better.

I have 2 rifles in this cal. Both are rolling blocks with new barrels & chambers. 1-14 twist to shoot heavy bullets: 300+ I shoot both smokeless and BP
Both rifles are fun to shoot and very accurate!
Have fun with yours. PS:
If you can't kill it with a 38-55.............it's too tough to eat!!!

Echoing Dave here, without the need to repeat it..........

FWIW- i have a "big bore" an shoot it in the mild 38/55 class , powder charge bullet weight , minimal pace. the New ones are as Dave said.
ADI AR2207 powder which is i cant remember off top of head H48>>

There is absolutely zero reason, given the receiver strength, why the 38-55 can't be loaded to 30-30 pressures in a Model 94, which is 42,000 psi. Rifle condition, including the block, etc all come into play here, as does brass.
Of note, the rifles chambered in .307 Winchester, .356 Winchester and .375 Winchester used a stronger receiver, while retaining all of the same internals.
Use a chronograph, watch the brass, use common sense, and realize the full potential the cartridge has to offer.
