.38/55 powder coat and gas check

My bullets drop from the mould at .3785-.379. Add a couple of thou for the powder coating and I size them back to .379.

Bassmaster:
I only use the long Starline brass (2.125) and it's supposed to be thinner in the neck area as previously reported.
PM me if you'd like a few to try.

You sir are a Gentleman and a Scholar ....thanks for the offer but I have some Starline brass on the way. I thought I was good to go with all the ole Dominion stuff I have. The experimenting continues. I wish I could use a .379 bullet, mine slugs out at .382

Using real black powder in a situation like this might work to bump up an under size bullet enough to fill the bore if it's cast from a soft alloy. I don't know if the black powder substitutes or any other powder is capable of creating that effect but I'm sure people have experimented.

It would be a whole different direction to try. The fouling, cleaning, different alloys and lubes etc that go along with black powder might not be what you want to deal with either.
