38 ACP aka Automatic Colt Pistol

I have a box of 38 Auto Colt. Not 380 auto or 380 acp.

Is there a demand or use for this round? Is there any value to it? Its not really old ammo. Its in the Remington Green and yellow boxes.

Any help would be appreciated.

That stuff is the cat's meow in the Spanish Destroyer rifles and the Husqvarna 1908 semi auto pistols.

It's very close to the 9mm Largo (9mm Browning Long)

If you have either of those firearms, save it or use it in them.

It's the parent of the .38 "Super", which is identical aside from being loaded to pressures too high for blowback guns like the 1900. That particular ammo is useable in all sorts of modern and old firearms.

It shoots well in my 1902 Colt Military model. It was developed when the US Army was looking for a semi-automatic pistol but it, and others, failed because they were considered under-powered. Colt went back to the drawing board and came up with the 1911 in .45 ACP.



Colt also made a civilian version in 1903 that was slightly smaller.

The original load was pretty impressive, basically the same as today's .38 Super. It was watered down to accomodate blowback guns after being rejected by the US Army pistol trials. Something to that effect anyway.
