J frame S&Ws are stronger than K frames; based on this I do not see +Ps as a problem. Why? A lot of J frame 38 Specials were converted and worked well with 125gr 357 ammo. Regards, Richard:)

I don't own one but a friend in the US shoots +P through his 2" stainless Chief's Special regularly. It's a 60-7...early '90's production???

To me the bigger question is "Why bother?". A 158gr bullets at 850 fps is just as impressive to your paper target as one at 1100 fps.

I sent a e-mail to S+W. Their response was they do not recomend using +P in J-frames built prior to 1997.

Thanks to all who responded.
