38 s&w data wanted

Hi guys, looking for data for reloading older 38 S&W (not a special)--158grn. LSWC--using win 231. or any recomandations. I tried the search but came up with pages of everything else. Im new at this so bear with me. Thanks, Dave

A .38 S&W shooting a 160 gr cast backed by W-231:
Starting Load - 2.1 gr
Max Load - 2.4 gr

Good day, I'm using Bullseye @ 2.2g = 629fps & 2.4g @ 693.
From Speer Nr 11:

For W231, using 158gr bullet starting load: 2.3g @ 593fps & 2.6gr @ 671fps

Thanks guys, that will get me started. any idea on overal length. my listing that i had was for 145 grn lead round nose. Dave

OAL for a 160 is 1.15"

My load is similar: 2.2gr W231, 1.150 OAL with a 160gr LRN.

Anyone reloading the 38/200, the original loading? 200 grain lead bullet? And the 158 grain bullets you guys are using, are they .358 or are they .360 diameter?

I have two loads for a 195gr cast bullet in the 38 S&W at an OAL of 1.275" - both mild:

1.7 grs Clays - 525 fps
1.7 grs Trail Boss (full case) - 470 fps

The 158grn lswc bullets ive got are .358 but ive been trying to find some .360 in ontaio without much luck. starting to think i might try casting some once i get moulds for it.but thats anouther search.--Dave

I lucked out on one of my molds, it's a 158 grain SWC, but it casts large, at .360. So I can shoot as is for the 38 S&W or size it down for 38/357. I have shot undersize bullets through mine, with a little loss of accuracy and some leading....not the end of the world.
