So, I was an excited new RPAL owner and saw a Webley Mk IV available to buy.
I thought a cool piece of military history would be great to own.
I had no idea how hard it would be to find ammo.

I ordered a box of "short" rounds of .38 S&W from IRunGuns.com that is linked from this site.
Will these rounds work in my Mk IV? I think they will based on the reading I've been doing.

Are these rounds worth reloading or should I buy some S&W brass and get a friend to reload?
Hello friend! Are you out there?
Where can I get ammo for this pistol?

It has been sold out for quite some time in country, when. It was available was usually $40-$50 a box

Reloading is fine, but they don't take standard 38 bullets, they are a tad bigger at .362, they can be found online, I believe Jethunter on the forum sells them, I could be wrong. Then brass powder primers and you're good to go. All easier said than done of course

I have the webley, Enfield and Victory, they shoot 0.358 bullets just fine. Last new ammunition I seen for sale was $60 /50 rnds. Reloading is the way to go. It drops your price drastically. I have over 900 cases which I reload about once a year.

Did you buy .38 short (colt) or .38S&W

Dimensions are different

38 short will fit in 38 S&W and will fire. Some on the internet suggest not doing it.

38 short cases will bulge if shot in 38S&W

Up to you.

They are S&W rounds-- just specified as "short"

These are them:
Fiocchi Cowboy Action .38 S&W Short Ammunition 50 Rounds Lead Round Nose 145 Grains 38SWSHL

Nice. Here is a pic of what someone sold me as 38S&W. They are 38 short colt

Missouri bullets makes a 0.362 bullet, 145gr, jethunter has 145gr and 200gr for the 38/200 load, but there will be no official data for the 38/200.

Depending on the bore the 0.357 may work, but in a webley I hear they are more open than the Smith and Wesson or colt pistols from the Lend Lease.

I still have to work up loads, factory is around 650fps from a 6in barrel but is no where near point of aim.

If you intend to shoot your Webley fairly often, then save your fired Fiocchi brass to reload along with new Starline 38 S&W brass (which is available from Rusty Wood and others), bullets as per Fox's suggestions, and look for Lee (relatively inexpensive) dies, otherwise you'll go broke and/or crazy frustrated trying to find ammunition for it.
You might also tell us where you are located in case there's a reloader nearby who might volunteer to help out.

Thanks for all of this info, folks.
I really appreciate it. With a freeze on handgun tranfers I guess I'll only be shooting the ones I currently own.

Looks like I will be learning to reload in the near future!
