hey guys. I gotta itch to get do some interesting work to my tt 33. I've googled around and see since guys hsve converted theirs to 38 super and all it took was a simple barrel change. my question is. dose anybody know of any Smith's that would be able to whip up a new barrel for my tok? also on the subject. dose anybody know if browning 1903 pistol grips will work on a tt33? thanks in advance!

No, they are a different style of latch

Tokarev is a latch

If you're looking for wood grips, Marschalgrips out of Hungary seems to be the only place that I can find. I don't know where to find plastic grips and I don't care to look.

I can't answer your first question because I don't know of anybody.

I'm interested in the conversion. Does the .38's semi rim fit in the mags?

Who made the barrels? We can't even find 9mm ones in Canada.

from what I've gathered online is that they took 9mm barrels and reamed them out to fit 38 super. looks like they fit in the mag fine and function well. apparently in the U.S they sold a few kits in the 70s that contained just a new barrel and bushing as the barrel was slightly bigger I guess. everything else was stock.

There are versions of the TT33 in 9mm, including commercial ones. Seems to me that if you just rechambered the 9mm barrel, you would have the caliber installed and maybe the 7.62x25 mags would be the right length for the 38 super.

You would not want a gun with the block in the frame.

I buy nice plastic wrap around Tok grips on ebay for about $19 USD. see item 401306289184

That is pretty cool too but not quite as classic with the comp. Does the comp make a difference?

I don't think it makes an appreciable difference. Strictly a novelty item. The mag base plates make a huge difference IMO, letting you use three fingers instead of just two.

My 1941 Tokarev is similar to machman’s. Marschal Grip panels and Gunpartswarehouse magazine base. And I’ll second his opinion that the mag base extension makes a huge difference. Unfortunately I have only one.

That's exactly what I did a few years ago with one of the $99 M213's that Lever was selling. Just extended the chamber using a chucking reamer the same diameter as the rest of the chamber (in this case a "W" size). Took some fiddling to get it to eject. Added a brake and grips for the "cool" factor.
