.38 Victory Revolver

Considering the bubba work done on your pistol, there is a good chance that the cylinder was swapped for a 38spl one, or reamed to take the longer cartridge.
Since it's at the smiths, why not ask him to check it out and see what it's chambered for?

He figured it was S&W but I had already shot around 100 rounds of .38 special before I sent it to him so I just wasnt sure.

Well, since we are showing pics, here's my 6" pre-victory, canadian issued 38S&W.

Thanks also for your picture. Is yours a .38 special?? The screw in the trigger guard was to stop the trigger from going all the way back for quicker firing I am guessing. Either way I am having it taken out. I to order some of the plain grips so when my Victory returns I can put them on.

Mine is .38 S&W. As for the screw, I don't think it would have anything to do with shortening the trigger draw. Mine releases the hammer at about 1/8th of an inch from the rear of the guard, and my trigger wouldn't clear that screw anyway. Maybe it was an attempt to provide a safety? Screw it in and the trigger won't come back enough to release?
But God knows I'm no expert on these...

it is also a pre victory model. 4th change.

The screw was an attempt at an "Overtravel" screw. Probably did not have anything to do with the double action but in single action the screw could be adjusted to stop the trigger from moving past the exact point of releasing the hammer. That lovely 6"er looks like it spend a lot of time laying on it's left side in a holster and got a little damp.

Nice pics, guys, and thanks for posting them. M39a2, thanks for the info, but I'm hard pressed to see any real advantage to that. We're talking about a few thousandths of an inch in travel...
