There was a discussion about putting a PPK slide on a PP frame here.

I was going to try it (it would duplicate the PPK/s) but someone chimed in and said that the springs would jam the gun badly - so I decided not to try.

I suppose if the springs were removed it could be tried - safely.

Anyway, in rummaging around in the 380 locker I found some pistols I had forgotten about.

The middle row of miniature 1911s are recoil lock up pistols. All the others are blowback.

The problem with a 380 in a blowback is that it has a bit too much power, so the gun has a very stiff spring. It take a bit of effort to rack the slide. My wife can't do it.

The pistols that lock up have relatively light springs and are easy to use. I can also load them a bit hotter.

Top left is a H&K4, a very nice shooter. Good trigger and sights and I find it very accurate.

Below it is an Astra Constable, the same size as the Walther PP below it. The guns are very similar, except the Astra suits a big hand better.

The bottom pistol is a Walther PPK/s in chrome.

The little guy is a AMT Back Up. Very small, but heavy.

Hey there! A note from the poor schleps that don't have 12.6 exceptions. Kindly GFY. I have had the opportunity to shoot the PPK in .22lr, .32 ACP and .380. The tears obscured the target.

I really like the Llama pistols. I've found the 22lr/32acp/380acp/45acp versions to be very accurate and well made. IMHO, they were undervalued when they first started coming into Canada.

The Astra on the top of the right row is an exceptionally well made pistol and will feed and shoot just about everything well.

The Mab, double action at the bottom right was never an expensive pistol but functions reliably and is accurate enough for what it was designed to do. I would have preferred it with a steel, rather than an aluminum frame.

The mini 1911's look cool

They where made in 22, 32 and 380, I never had the 380, Now I know where they all went.
The only problem I had was keeping the sight solid, and a mag or two that where not set right. But they where good for not much money.

Every once in a while, I come across a gun in my safe I haven't shot or looked at in a while...forgotten, so to speak.

I haven't managed to forget 11 at a time though....lol.

Nice collection.

I currently have three 12.6 in 380acp. All of which are locking actions. It makes the recoil from them seem very similar to a 32acp in an unlocked gun.

I have my Browning BDA in .380 which is modern double stack. I also have a Wallam 48 which is a collaboration between Walther and FEG for an Egyptian contract. It’s basically a pp with minor differences. I love this gun. I managed to pick up a number of brand new magazines for it, and it hasn’t had a single malfunction even with hollow point reloads. I had a ppk in .380 and it was just plain nasty to shoot. You always had to watch your grip, and even then it was so small by the 3rd or fourth rd you were risking hammer bite.
