.380 revolver ammo

not exactly antique or BP,but...

I have a bunch of .380fmj ammo left to me by a relative who was RCAF in WWll.His service revolver was a .380

It's fairly hot and it all goes boom as I fired a bunch from a Belgian Bulldog I picked up.
There are boxes of 50, and boxes of 12 maybe from a battle pack?

couple of questions...

any idea what this stuff is worth?
anyone in need of some?

also have a box of 45acp fmj Remington umc ammo from the same era...anyone know what it might be worth?

Don't shoot any more of that stuff in your bulldog! Your relative's ammo is indeed .380 Revolver but your revolver is chambered for .38 Smith and Wesson (Short and Week) While interchangable it is not the same.
.380 is loaded with a 174 grain trunicated copper jacketed bullet going about 700 to 750 fps, .38 S & W is a 146 grain lead round nose going a wopping 600 to 650 fps. Although only 100 or so fps difference, the different preasure is signifigant!!!

no actually it's chambered for .380
.38 S&W is not an accepted antique caliber here in Canada.
Having Belgian proofs it had to fire a double charge 4 times in each chamber to get the stamp,but thanks for your concern.
I was more interested in the value of the ammo...just sold a bunch for $3 a piece...
 
Sorry, using common nomenclature, you are quite correct, still don't think shooting that higher preasure in the old revolver is a good idea. Bought a box of 50 of the 175 grain loads for $ 25.00 a couple of months ago though.
