I was over at the Rhino sight doing a bit of reading, thought I would post these as well.

The following heads show the excellent results when shot into various media.

Left: Recovered from Blue Wilderbeest shot by American hunter.
Middle: Shot into wet pack.
Right: Shot into water test tank at 5 metres.

Those must be really soft to get that sort of expansion out of the slow speeds I'm sure they must get. 2400fps neighbourhood?

With the numbers I was just looking at it looks more like 2100 to 2200 fps out of an H&H. I guess I will find out :D

Boomer probably has some numbers for the RUM.

I've been getting 2300 fps with 84 grs of 4350 in my 20" .375 Ultra. These things shoot clover leafs with this load at 100 yards. If I ever get some slow powder like R-22 or 7828 I'll see if I can get a bit more speed, but the bullet performs well at this velocity, and another 50 fps would only serve to flatten the trajectory a little.

Crazy Davey,
Even at 2100 or a bit less those 380 grainers would give the original speed .404 Jeffery a run for it's money. Is there a solid to go with it?
Did you crimp those .375 loads?;)

There is a banded solid version, I'll post the write up from Magnum magazine when I get home tonight. Personally I think this is a bad idea in that the long bullet is less likely to penetrate in a strainght line than a shorter bullet. I found .375/286 gr PMP monosolids very good in this respect. The good news is that the solid and SP versions will fly to the same point of aim.

Boomer,

Try RL-25!
Though it makes for a very full case it actually works with 300 grainers.

You will either thank me for the velocity or hate me for the scope cut.

I'm not kidding. Hang on!

Really!

Seriously! :D :D
