Should I be seeing higher speeds?
Rem 22-250 Model 700 stainless fluted around 500 rounds down the tube.
50gn Hornady v-max pills
37g Varget = 3560 fps
38g Varget = 3770 fps

I would consider 38g to be a hot load but the cases and primers look the same as a 36g load.... so no pressure signs yet!

Your thoughts please.

Glad to hear it is still safe! Thanks

A Quickload calculation does not at all mean that the load is safe in your rifle. There are too many variables for Quickload to be able to predict a chamber pressure to a degree of accuracy that assures that.

I agree but in my first post with the info provided....

The question is why am I not approaching 3850-3900 fps?
I have seen some factory 50gn pills cross the chrono over 4000fps.

How did you decide that your load should be developing 3850- to 3900fps?

Possibly with some special blend of factory powders(Superformance), in a tight chamber, on a warm day, but certainly not with Varget. And if you are using a Chrony, light conditions can easily result in variances of over 100fps.

The Hornady Superformance 50gn loads are (according to their website, I haven't chronied any myself) 4k fps at the muzzle. Maybe switch to the Superformance powder from Varget if you want to get over 4k without over loading the cases? I'm not sure.

From Hornady site Test Barrel (24") Velocity (fps) / Energy (ft-lbs) Muzzle 4000/1776
h ttp://www.hornady.com/store/22-250-Rem-50-gr-V-MAX-Superformance/

And HODGDON site with Superformance starts at 60gn and up.

Is anyoune using Super with 50-55gn pills?
Is anyone pushing factory speeds? Care to share what it took to get there?

Have you tried the Hornady ammo to see if it is actually pushing that velocity out of our rifle? Just because they re able to get that out of their test rifle does not mean you will get it out of you rifle
