38SPL COAL question

The trim to length is 1.145, I have most of my once fired brass at 1.1435 - 1.145 . Is this close enough or will the seating depth change my pressure too much? and what about crimping?

Straight walled cases seldom change length much, I would just leave them alone. Seating depth has nothing to do with case length, it is measured from the base of the case, not the mouth. Crimping is a different matter, having fairly uniform case length is important to achieving a consistent crimp and making sure you are hitting the crimping groove on cast bullets or the cannelure on jacketed bullets.

That said, I have never had noticeable problems with crimping on .44 Mag and I have never had to trim a .44 case. They change so little that I seldom even measure them anymore, just the very occasional spot check to be sure nothing is getting really out of line on me.

Two thou won't matter. The average human hair is one thou in diameter.
You really only need to crimp if you're loading for a lever action rifle or hot loads. Otherwise the case mouth tension is enough.
