Well did the 7hr round trip and bought my first Marlin 39A. 1958 vintage. The photos I was sent had me thinking of the condition, till I seen it. The action had a wet messy coating of oil on it. That is "the flaws" I thought it had. Wiped the oil off and it is amazing!!!! The only marks I see are: on either side of the hammer, the bluing is wore, but on a 1958 'USED" gun...I have to expect that. The only draw back and you Marlin owners, please help me out if you have an extra one kicking around......it is missing the "bird`s eye" I think they are called.
I tried to get him to come down in price, never low balled him....I asked him if he would move at all. Being an old Gunsmith....he knew his prices and knew how fast these sell....he said "nope". Oh well, it was in my "mid ballpark" of what I was expecting to pay if I found one.
Now, to get rid of my 9422. I want it replaced with another exact one except not a commemorative one. Oh yeah, Don`t ask me which one is smoother either....you might be surprised! Darcy

WGP in Edmonton carry the Marlin 'Bullseye'. Ask for Jeff and he'll know what you need. On Rimfire Central, there is info on how to install the bullseye. Enjoy.

They have a minimum order if memory serves me correct. I think it is $25 or something like that. God forbid, they threw it in an envelope with a stamp and mailed it.

The missing bullseye is not going to affect how it shoots.....let us know how it shoots eh!
What did you pay and which one is smoother.....? :)

The 1977 Win 9422 is much smoother......I better get a helmet on before I get a beating for saying that. Its true though, seems way smoother. The Marlin shoots very nice and accurate for the 5 shells I`ve put down the pipe so far.
Lets just say, my pocket was bulging when I got there and when I left, there wasn`t a penny left in that pocket.

Oh....and for curiosity sake I weighed them on my old bathroom scale. They are very darn close to the same, yet the Winny is so skinny.

I got the white dot from Gravel in Montreal. The shipping was more than the part. Make sure they get the part number right. I think it is a part number 3. When I got the invoice for the part it was not even there and the other three parts were over $100.
Check the parts list. It is a little longer than the hole but there has been some good instruction on Rinfire Central.
Did it come with any other parts?

The 9422 will not turn to dust but if it has been fired, you may as well shoot it.

Welcome to the Club.

My 9422 is smoother then my Marlins as well. Nothing that deserves a beating it's just the truth......the 9422 is a smoother action.
Sometimes the old guns smooth up with a good cleaning, and it's also possible to over tighten the takedown screw on Marlins which will stiffen the action as well....
You should get yourself a nice peep sight for the receiver and then try a nice small brass bead or firesight of the right stature up front!

Thanks, if I can`t find one up here then I`ll order one and take the beating in shipping. As for extra parts...NO. As for the 9422...looking to trade it for another 9422 with a blued action. The gold just sticks out like a sore thumb.
