3D printed adjustable bag rider for CZ457

I've successfully cloned an adjustable bag rider for my CZ457 that works surprisingly well. It's held up flawlessly through a club match and a half dozen range visits so far.

Not perfectly smooth by any means but it does the job. I get approximately 1" of vertical adjustment on it.

A few hours of fusion 360, 6-7 printing iterations to adjust tolerances and $20 of hardware was a lot more tolerable than what it would have cost to get a real aluminum one. Plus it was really fun to reverse engineer it!

Curious if anyone else has some cool 3d printed accessories they've either designed or found that work well on 22lr builds. Would love to see what's out there!

Cool. I like it. I've made:

tuners
rim to driveband ammo sorting device and made a storage case
sandbag replacements both front and rear
front stops for front rests
copied Precision Quest Product's (PQP) entire rear mechanical rest after a buddy wanted a wider "dogbone" for his
ammo boxes with sliding lids for ammo that only comes in cardboard boxes so you can drop their trays in and use the sliding lid to dump 5 rounds out at a time to load
larger side focus knobs for the Sightron scope on my bench gun
throw levers for magnification adjustment for that Sightron scope
LabRadar triggers
LabRadar aiming sights
replacement scope turret knobs for my silhouette gun to give a zero stop and put silhouette animals on it for the four animal zeroes
single-shot adapters
CZ 452 (and 455?) bolt takedown tools

And probably a lot of other stuff I'm forgetting, plus tons of stuff not related to firearms. That 3D printer was one of the best things I have ever purchased. Hehe. They're great.
 
I’d very much like to discuss one of these designs for my mdt lss chassis and srs butt stock. I think this one be an awesome upgrade for my build.

I like having the adjustability when shooting from the bench. They get kinda bulky when trying to transition to different positions though. Here's what I've got going on. Two different bottom ends. One conventional rider slab and another as shown with a shorter bottom for mounting a mono-pod. 20250727_085423.jpg

I've done a fair bit of design refining since the original post. I upgraded my printer shortly after the first version was being prototyped, so I'm now building these out of Nylon and Polycarbonate. The nylon is incredibly strong and stiff and works great for the body, and a polycarbonate rider is smooth enough to allow free recoil style shooting.

I have 3 versions currently. An angled version that works for SRS, SRS-X style stocks with an angled m-lok mount. A straight version that works with the Oryx. And a version for the MDT XRS which I currently run on my 6.5cm centerfire setup.

They currently use a bronze sleeve bearing, but I'm looking to move to a linear bearing instead for even smoother travel.

The move to a linear bearing is based on another project I'm working on... an adjustable rear rest with 1"+ of vertical travel with swappable saddles (TPU) that can be customized to any rifle stock profile. Still very much in the prototype stage, but after testing at the range last weekend it's showing a lot of promise. I pursued this because I ended up selling my 457 and upgrading to an Anschutz 1710 with a GRS stock, and didn't want to drill the stock to add my adjustable rider.

Thanks to Jared's help providing detailed measurements, I now have a version that fits skeletonized MDT chassis buttstocks with the additional hole location for a sling mount.

I also officially changed from the bronze bushing to linear bearings for these. It's way smoother! I also went with slightly longer pins, so vertical travel is also slightly increased with no detriment to performance.
