July update and TL;DR summary of this thread:

Both the conversion inserts and standalone mags are now available. Both have "true" last round hold open. I.e. they engage the slide lock lever like the centerfire magazines, rather than block the slide like the Sigpower and BDM mods.

I can confirm that both the standalone magazines and inserts (when inserted in a P226 mag) work for the P229 .22 conversion. See post 51 for video.

Inserts work for both the 9mm and .40/357 current 10 round factory SIG P226 mags (the black painted ones, not the older parkerized ones).

Inserts for the Mec-Gar mags will not be possible at this time.

I was tired of not having slide lock on the last shot with my P226 .22 conversion kit so I printed up a prototype magazine insert with a slide lock function. Testing it at the range tomorrow.

If it works as well as it does cycling manually, and if there's enough interest, I can make these available for sale. What do you guys think?

I'm going to try to price them at about half the price of the standard .22 mags. I need to get a bunch of custom springs made up first, so it depends on how much that costs.

Traffic was crazy today, but I did manage to put about 300 rounds through the mag. Slide lock worked about 90-95%. I suspect the times where it didn't work my thumb was riding on the button, because after I consciously avoided it and took off my gloves it worked 100%. Off to see a spring manufacturer tomorrow.

Stupid question.....does it use the factory mag 9mm spring? Just asking because most 22's have pretty light springs in them. It looks like it feeds ok tho. Was just curious.

It uses a completely different spring. I'm in the process of getting a quote to get a bunch custom made. Depending on how much they cost, I may do a pre-order to help finance the spring order. I should have a number by next week and I'll price the inserts accordingly.
