3D Printer at the Reloading Bench?

I'm glad you guys agree.
I think this could be my next large purchase of 2018.

If you don't mind Coreyd... feel free to come back here and keep us updated about ur 3d journey.

Well I ordered the Monoprice Maker Select Plus ($399) a few days ago. I was looking at the V2 ($299) but there is a discount code "SELPLUS" that knocked the price of the Plus down a hundred bucks so I ordered it. It's in Mississauga right now most likely getting duties and taxes added to the delivery. I already have a number of things I plan to print our like primer chutes and such. I will post some pics once I get everything up and running.

Well after this thread I sent my buddies kid some links on Thingiverse and he has printed me a bunch of stuff for my reloading bench.
Awesome. Can't wait for them to show up.

Turns out he has a mid-level unit (Prusa i3 - he spent around $800+ and did some mods to it). When the fidget spinner thing hit he paid for the machine cranking them out for his school friends......

That is a smart young fella. Good on him!

Got my printer and printed out a spent primer chute for the Dillon 650. It came out well. It warped a little bit on the bottom, maybe a 32nd of an inch or so but I can correct that moving forward with more heat on the bed. It ran 50c I am bumping it up to 70c for the next print job. I will post pics later.

I have had a Prusa I3 for about a year now. Made all kinds of gun related parts, mag extensions, mag pouches, shotgun caddies, etc. Not to mention the applications for it around the house. I figure I have paid for this several times over already

OK here's my update. I ordered the printer from Monoprice. Took less than a week to get it using DHL shipping (cheapest option). To my door it cost me $452 CDN. Found what I consider (for myself because they are 20 min from my house) the cheapest and best stocked place for filament (3D Printing Canada dot com, in Hamilton), $26 per kilo.

Set the printer up. Grabbed a design for a Dillon 650 spent primer chute, default settings for the printer and fired it up. This isn't the actual first but it worked out perfectly.

OK cool let's try something else... primer tube holders. Yep... awesome!

I'm a Dillon fanboy, what can I say. I didn't have a lot of success printing the powder measure knob I liked so I drew my own using TinkerCad... success!

(Apologies for the vertical pic, I suck)

Now... I have this Dillon RT-1200 trimmer, it's awesome but anyone who has one knows the vacuum attachment moves up, tilts with the weight of the hose, etc. I have brass shavings all over the place. Back to TinkerCad I go... let's build a collar to fill that gap where the vacuum attachment rides up to. Fit like a glove:

I picked up and RCBS Summit single stage press last fall. The spent primer cup is small, flimsy, crappy and otherwise unworthy of being shipped with RCBS products. Back to TinkerCad I go... here's the result:

Overall I am super impressed. Along with my stuff I have printed several Lego train track pieces for my youngest some and my middle son is designing and printing mounting systems for his breadboards, arduino's and R Pi's. I couldn't be happier. With all that said, getting the right bed temperature and extruder temperature combination has been a challenge. I have been keeping a log of my print jobs because yes, I have had 1 job fail for every 2 successful jobs at this point but I am learning.

I will post more as I go and if anybody wants to know the "thing" ID of things I have printed ask and I will let you know. If there is something I have made that you want let me know and I will put it on thingiverse and give you the ID of it.

I bought a bibo 3d printer from Amazon. It works great . Mostly printing up reloading trays, various other thing from thingiverse. The best thing I have done done the printer is bought buildtak printing surface for the heated bed. No more glue sticks or masking tape .

I downloaded Fusion 360 to give modeling a try. This is to replace my rcbs RC II primer catcher. If it turns out well Ill upload to thingiverse if anyone wants it

That is the first thing I thought of making as soon as I saw this thread. Mine sucks, it bent over the years and primers drop in between the press and the catcher.
I look forward to your results.

Cheers!

I generally get my filament from filament.ca they got free shipping over 125$ min order . Top notch stock . Don't buy the cheapest filament you ended with fail print or clog in the nozzle.

Well, you guys got me. There is a 3D printer on its way here now. With a newborn at home I have been looking for a hobby that keeps me close as the range is a whole days trip when you live on an island.

Anyone seen a cad file for a mag extension for aics 308 mags. Cost about 70$ by the time they get here from USA. Be nice to try a one printed in ABS
