3gunners rebelling towards 2guns

Age probably has something to do with it. I will do 1 gun, 2 gun, 3 gun or 4 gun and I am no pro with any single gun. I am mediocre at best but I enjoy it all. Sure shooting my AR 200 yards to hit a target is more frustrating because of my lack of skill but overall I enjoy it and slowly get better.

I hope you don't go into your first match thinking that way. Your goal should be to have fun, and learn what it's about. It's good to see what guys are using before you lay out the cash. I've got a big tub of crap that I don't use any more from learning along the way.

No one performs well, score wise anyway, at their first match.

Not sure what part of BC you're from but we have 8 more matches this year in the Peace Country, including 4 two-day ones. Next one is this weekend in Fort St. John.

I think my negative talking is to pump myself up for the match! My shotgun has a RDS so I'll be in Open, which is another disadvantage.
I'm actually proficient in shotgun but at a slower pace. I see what experienced people fail to do in 2G competitions so I can see 3 G could be challenging!
I'm in the Fraser Valley so the FSJ match is out of the question!
No worries about the mindset. It will be fun and when the match starts, there will be no time to be negative anyways!

LOL. Keep in mind, lots of folks will be in Open for reasons like you so, other than at the top, it's just like any other division.

Take your time, do it right, and have a great time!
 
WTF, who doesn't like the shotgun parts?? I shot my first 3 gun a couple of weeks ago with a 28" barrel semi, max 3 in the mag, and had a ball. I guess a little different if you're serious about time, but still.

Maybe I just really like shooting shotguns.
 
One ADVANTAGE of having shotguns, is that you can now have optional targets (pistol, shotgun).. eg plates at 10-15m, sure, stage design has to accommodate it, but it opens up stage options, making the game more fun. Everyone has their likes, and dislikes.. personally, I'd like to see a whole lot more 300m+ targets, and more long pistol shots..

Well It's pretty common knowledge that MD's are beholden to the community in many ways.
Their obligations include, but are not limited to:

-Organizing/setting up frequent matches which are scheduled for a day a specific shooter can attend.

-Matches must be of a format that is easy to shoot or at least cater to a specific shooters perceived strong points.

-MD's must prevent rain, cold, excessive heat as well as wind. Breezes are okay, but only if southerly.

-MD's are solely responsible for any delay that might cause the match to run longer than expected thus preventing a shooter from getting home in time that he may please his wife, attend a previously scheduled family get-together or a second match at another range/gun club.

-MD's may also be required to explain over and over again the CoF because shooters aren't really responsible for paying attention the first time. Doing so would interfere with the their banter regarding what gun their buddy brought and how its running, who did the work on the gun and how the gun is making its first appearance at a match, but worked fine when it was tested the day before with such and such ammo.

-Food. Yes, some are of the mind that MD's are also responsible for feeding the shooters that take time out of their busy lives to come shoot the match.

I'm sure there are other points, but these are the few I could come up with at the moment

Christ I remember that match. It was 32 degrees in the shade. We almost died running that stage on the 300m. Lonedrone did all the ROing and must have logged 16km of running that day. I did about 20k but as I was scoring it was more of a stroll for me zig zagging back and forth.
Damn but those were good days!! Thanks for the great video prompting such great memories!

I'd be fine with 300M rifle shots :)
