3K what 22lr rifle to buy!?

No love for the 1727 ?
I mean the 1727 (and obviously 1827F) are awesome for follow-up shots but it's an expensive action that doesn't really offer a 'benefit' in precision alone.

On the original topic of the discussion, if I were 'building' a precision .22LR rifle, I'd be very compelled to start with a CZ for all the ease of IBI and other options. As much as I love my Annies (currently 3 of them, 2 being biathlon rifles heavy and light barrel versions), they are a lot more difficult and finicky than they need to be. Barrel changes are an onerous affair... The magazines are over a half-century old antiquated design...

I just picked up an Anschutz - 22LR - 1712 Silhouette Sporter (Shout to site sponsor https://store.prophetriver.com/) and topped it off with a Zeiss Conquest V4 Riflescope - 4-16x44mm SFP, Tactical MOA Turrets, Locking Wind Turrets/BKL 1" Long Double Strap Dovetail Rings.

Very happy with the setup, sighted in at 30 yards and shooting 5 bullet groups at 3/8" using Eley .22 LR High-Velocity Ammunition from the bench.

I have read horror stories about getting T1x barrels off due to how Tikka builds/assembles their rifles, so if the aftermarket barrel bug has bitten, the CZ will be an easier DIY thing. Maybe someone who has done it can chime in? My T1x has a barrel I'd never change if it keeps doing what it's doing now.

I do plan on learning more about the Tikka UPR stock, I thought they looked ugly online but then I held one in-store. That rifle/in that stock is on the short list if my judgement is bad enough to add another 22 to my situation.

Isn't the T1x barrel just held on by 3 grub screws? In theory it's just a slip in fit like the CZ's, should be easy as pie. If it's got a slight interference fit and can't be removed just by pulling by hand, put a wooden dowel into the action and give it a whack with a hammer.

I heard there's also some thermal adhesive involved
You are correct. They’re glued in basically!and even getting the grub screws out can be problematic. If you want to play around with barrel swapping I’d choose the CZ . I have shot 4 different Bergaras and all of them were very accurate, all had steel barrels and were unmodified.

I have a TON of CCI standard. I would almost feel guilty feeding that thought an Annie. Esp when the paper results with that ammo would be almost the same from a 700 rifle vrs a 3000 rifle. I mean I could just sit on it and maybe use it for gophers but I doubt I would I would likely buy some bulk SK match and use that. Very tough choice here. I think the majority here are saying annie.

Right now I was leaning towards building out a CZ 457 Varmint, because it might shoot pretty good right off the bat! Might not need a barrel change. Just a stock and maybe a trigger. Save myself 1500 lol

Bergara B14r barreled action [steel] ($1050),
MDT ACC Premier Gen 2 ($1249),
Triggertech special ($295)

You're at $2594 without taxes or shipping from chosen retailers.
I saw some places have Bergara on sale atm for 15% off, not us, but that helps towards it.

I am contemplating the same thing. I have a CZ452 varmint in a boyds tacticool stock which I have been shooting for a year. I am getting between .400 and .600” depending on ammo. Have not beat the 50yrd match on here yet which is why I got it. Thinking of Anschutz 1761 MSR. I am also thinking do I really need to shoot much better? Its only myself, the bench and bags. Still on the fence would very much like to handle one in person. I got everything thing used so don’t have a lot into it should have done more research from the start. I realize the varmint is not exactly a match gun. I have read a bunch and talked to a few MSR owners on the phone and they are very happy.

Yea, then its 850 for the vamint or the 1200 for the varmint match lol

Normal or heavy?
On release the b14R was preforming very average for a slightly higher then average price. Is that still what most people are seeing?

The idea of unlimited stocks/triggers is nice ie being on the 700 platform.

Crazy Idea thats outside the paradigm. If you have a high budget might I recomend a Curtis Valor or Terminus Zeus. They are mostly a centerfire short action platform but you can get a rimfire bolt and spin up a custom rimfire 22 barrel. They are based on a rem 700 foot print. They can shoot with a rimfire bolt / 223 bolt face / 308 bolt face/ magnum bolt face.

Then you have one gun that can do it all. Here is a video to show you the concept.

Have a T1X with Timney two stage trigger in a MDT chassis, with the right ammo, accurate and fun as heck. Also have a 1761APR, drills holes with any ammo. When it’s an accuracy comp, Annie everytime

Im looking to have another rifle meet the 1/2" challenge.

I will be feeding the rifle good ammo, even when its shooting gophers.

I have a few lined up, but typical of me I cant seem to figure out what one to go down.

THE SHORT LIST
Anschutz 1761 APR XRS .22LR
ANSCHUTZ 1903 R TACTICAL TRAINER
Anschutz 1761 HB classic 2 stage trigger (good price point and can get a stock later)
Tikka T1x Ace Target Rifle, Black: 22 LR, 20"
CZ - 457 MDT-XRS Chassis 22' IBI 1:16 barrel
OR build my own CZ or TIKKA slowly. I know some can be shooters from the shelf, so buy a tikka or CZ see how it does then start swapping parts?

I know the annie 1761 will be a shooter, just what specific brand of ammo. It will be fast and easy. Plus the 2 stage triggers are AMAZING.
I have owned a 1903 target, I liked it... Eventually sold it after getting on the 1/2" challenge though.. Dont think I want another.
The tikka t1x ace target BY FAR has the best stock, but its a base t1x... so I mean eventually if it doesn't shoot I can change barrel and maybe trigger hiking the price.
CZ should be a shooter with an IBI barrel, might end up changing out trigger... ( I REALLY LIKE 2 STAGE TRIGGERS LOL , Esp those annies )

OR buy a CZ/tikka base and build it up? Thoughts?
You all gonna crap on me for this but my savage mk11 is reliable and dependable to about 50 yards but I only shoot elly quiets through it. Cci is garbage. Gf loves it for the quiet no ear plugs required
