Yup three years, opening morning, and I'm here alone. All the "old guys" moved on to closer to home camps (like 1.5 hours from Oshawa was a long time....). All the younger guys lost interest when the older ones left and now it's just me sitting in the camp alone.

On the bright side at least I have a heated "blind" :D

Maybe one day I will meet more willing hunters. ;) (by the way I'm a classically trained chef :) )

Hahahaha.... with a bit of advanced notice I would have gladly joined you.... nice shooting rest BTW.... I think you misheard... tghe dealer said to buy a "Caldwell".... not a Cottonelle!

No I believe that is a Kirkland by Costco brand of rest. ;) adjustable to any size (just roll some off) and doubles as "field paper" in a pinch.

In the stand now just took some glory shots to tease the old guys with.

Just wish there was some deer in the pix....

Too bad you are so far east from me. I would have zero issues with a trained chef (I clean a mean plate) in a heated "blind", as you call it.

Hope the next pics have dead critter in them.

That area looks real familiar. North of Lakefield near Youngs point by any chance? I'm in 60 near Buckhorn and again no doe tags (at least until some of the other guys get here). I'll hunt here for a while then maybe try 74A where I have a doe tag (and an additional ML/archery tag)

1 1/2 hours is too far away? Oh well, sometimes it is nice to have a bit of peace and quiet to yourself. Good luck. What kind of ammo are you using in your Mosin?

What, I can't use surplus stuff? Joking.

Using Selier & Bellot 180 grain soft points.

Not shots today, just saw the one. Also, why are squirrels the loudest things in the woods?

What? You are in that area, and can't find anyone to join you?

Wish I'd known sooner ... I'd have signed up for a few days :D I'm due west of there on Lake Simcoe.

We are always looking for other guys to hunt with.

Dave.

Brings back memories of deer hunting in Ontario. I used to live in Buckhorn and hunted that area for many years. It would be fun to go on a hound hunt again some day.

to bad i didnt know sooner im very close to where you are if you like you can PM me and maybe next season

Too bad you didn't know sooner!?!

Imagine how I feel. When guys say, "Cya on the 7th!" then on the 6th, they say, maybe next year.

I'll keep your contact info (along with everyone else who said they are near by and interested) for next year, and contact you earlier.
