Right now all of my pistols are heavy duty and competition oriented guns. They're all metal-framed, which I like for those purposes, but that adds weight. I want a shorter barrel, even if it's just 3/4 of an inch less, that weights less and has lots of holster options.

I hate crappy triggers, so I need something that's got a top-notch trigger or is easily upgradeable to a top-notch 3-5lbs trigger. And I want it to be accurate. Trigger should be DAO or SAO. Not interested in DA/SA.

Trying to think through my options...

I know glock has their MOS. It's there an MOS version of the Glock 48? Doesn't look like it to me. I know there's a G19 MOS but haven't trouble finding one right now.

There's the Walther PPQ but that is 5" barrel...

Anyone aware of a 4.17-4.25" 1911 that is optics-ready? Or even something slightly larger that is?

I'm pretty open to any brands as long as they're quality and reliable.

thx

Not totally sure what you mean by upgradable. Aftermarket support and accessories? If so, it will be hard to beat the Glock so it might be a case of waiting.

The IWI Masada look like it meets some of your criteria, but I don't know much about it. Folks seem to like it though even though it is cheap.

The PPQ Tac would be nice for sure if you don't mind the protruding barrel.

Have a Glock 48 milled for a Shield RDS or one of the new Holosun micro optics that uses the Shield footprint. I think most standard pistol red dots (RMR, etc) will be too wide to fit on a single stack slide, so you're choice of optics will be a bit more limited, but the fact that Holosun is jumping on board with the Shield footprint is awesome and will open the door to some good options.

Or is you're feeling spendy go with an STI Staccato P duo.

Second the IWI Masada. It’s a very impressive gun. Glock-like reliability, very high build quality, accurate, Optics ready, even comes with mounting plates for 4 most common red dots, priced very competitively for what you get. Get a Dara OWB holster for it, and you are golden
