4-6 Months for my Maxus Hunter 3.5"? :-(

So I'm looking to pickup a Browning Maxus Hunter 3.5" Chamber w/28" Barrel. I was told by the folks at Ellwood Epps that if they don't have the shotgun in stock that it can take between 4-6 months to fill the order from Browning.

That lead time seems pretty long.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I really had my heart set on this edition of the Maxus, but may need to re-think it if I want to shoot it sometime this year. :-0

Yeah thanks, just checked. They don't have the Maxus Hunter version I'm looking for - 12 Ga 3.5" Chamber, 28" Barrel. :*(

A custom made, or "bespoken" as they're known, gun from a quality maker requires between 2 to 3 years lead time. 4 - 6 months to bring in a model/configuration that's not currently in stock seems reasonable to me.

I can understand your excitement over the purchase; it's always difficult to wait, once the purchase decision has been made. But, quality and fit are worth waiting for.

Have you got something you can hunt with in the meantime?

Even for a special order guns come from distributors in bunches. They won't often make a special shipment and your gun will come in when the rest of Epps' Browning order arrives. I'd start hitting the phone and email of other dealers. I believe Shooter's Choice in Waterloo had one in stock the last time I was in. I'd also try Flaherty's and Williams or any of the sponsoring dealers here. Good luck.

I also just got a quote from Reliable Gun... They are asking for $1535 for the model I'm looking for. He wasn't clear if it was 1535 + tax, but did say he could get the shotgun within 2 weeks time which sounds more reasonable.

Epps however quoted $1306.80 +tax. If Reliable's price includes tax then I might be in business.... this would be my first purchase so I don't mind waiting a reasonable amount of time. 6 months though... I'd have to start looking at other models such as the Stalker edition, which everyone seems to have in stock.

I sent off an email to Shooters Choice. Alberta is closer than Ontario for me here in B.C., so if they do have it, it would at least get here sooner. :)

Roger at Shooter's choice in Alberta got back to me... they don't sell browning products. :-( Did I get the wrong store?

Hmm so to follow up... Reliable got back to me with his best price @ 1499.00 + tax but with a estimated ship time of 2 weeks.

Epps came in at 1306.80 with a ship date of god knows when...

Online the only other price I could find on the Maxus Hunter 3.5" w/28" Barrel was from LeBaron.ca for $1354.00 (on special).

Does 1499 seem right to you all? At the very least the shop would be local to me so if ever I had a problem I could deal direct. I've sent out a few emails to a few other dealers and hope to have some better comparisons.
