A few years back there was a fellow at the Calgary gunshow who had made a beautiful double rifle from scratch in four bore, complete with the leather bound case with all the gadgets. He built his cases from scratch and cast all his own slugs. Took the little 30lb+ howitzer to Afrika and got a Cape Buffalow and some other species which I don't remember.
He didn't take much heed to me looking at his beautiful work until I asked what bore it was. Once he knew I had a little bit of an understanding and we chatted some more he let me pick it up out of the case and got my bride to take some pics. What a beast it was to hold! He said if I didn't fall over backwards when I shot it, I would be trying to catch up with my torso for ten or so paces backwards. IIRC the slugs were similar to the above posted weight in the conical profile.
Good times.
Thanks for the memorbilia Dosing!
