4 barrel shotgun?

Now that Chiappa has the triple-threat in 3 barrels (although for considerably more money than a lot of people are willing to pay), why doesn't a manufacturer make a 4 barreled shotgun? A Lancaster pistol style action, in 12 gauge, with a full stock would be great. For those concerned about weight, since us Canadians are allowed short barrels in manual actions and still be non-restricted, that would help to keep the weight down.

Imagine this:

in 12 gauge, with a full-length stock.

If any manufacturer is interested in this concept, another consideration is the trigger. Dual triggers would be a fun option. Imaging a SxS lighting off both barrels..... twice

Well. Look at it this way. Why the extra barrels? Firepower! In my mind four barrels equates to a front heavy shot gun that can be unpleasant to shoot. If you need extra firepower get a pump.

But... If your just having needless fun by fireing off four 12 gauge barrels in succession. Why not?

There was one featured in the spaghetti western :The Stranger Returns" back in the sixties. If memory serves, the shotgun was used as a SxS with two hammers. When the top barrels were fired the hero then rotated the barrel assembly around to bring the next set of loaded barrels up. The empty cases were then plucked from the exposed bottom barrels and then they were reloaded and so on. It's been a long time since I've seen that movie so don't quote me on it.

Any shotgun in the bush is limited to holding maximum three shells in the gun, period.

It would be a range-toy only.

I remember having a 1970's gun digest as a kid and there was an article on a 4 barrel shotgun called the farmers fusil four.

...while hunting. Out of season, or more accurately if "not hunting" there isn't a restriction of capacity on non-restricted, manual action firearms. (Try to explain to a LEO that you aren't hunting when found over looking a pond in duck season with an 8 round magazine pump would be another challenge, but technically, if you aren't hunting and can shoot NR where you're found, you should be GTG.)
