What do you think my chances are in getting special permission from the ministry to use my Greener double 4 bore for geese. I sent a note the other day asking for special permission and reasons being that the ban was put in place to stop these guns for market hunting and now that there are limits to the amount of birds the gauge shouldn't matter. I have just got some cases now for this so will have to shoot it anyway and I thought it would be good to get it out for what they were built for.
I also explained at 17 1/2 pounds it is a little hard to use for grouse

I don't believe that they will make an exception for you, I think you may have better luck at getting them to change the law, but this would take a long time.

^this

Nothing to do with the Ministry; but, it would violate the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and so I think your chances are nil.

I will try to post some pictures tonight, I do not think there is much of a chance to get permission but if you don't ask you never will get permission.
I got some wads with the gun and cases and I believe Track of Wolf had some

Here are a couple of pictures

This shows the muzzle with a 12 gauge stuck in the barrel, the guns beside are a 16 bore double rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun

And the gun on a rack with some other 12 gauge shotguns, I like double guns

The information I have on it is it was started in Oct 1882 but Greener has no ship date, the gun was sold by WG Rawbone in Capetown Africa. The barrels when made were 36 inches long but have been shorted to 34 inch and the chokes removed not sure if this was done before it was shipped to Rawbone or if Rawbone did it and was used as a backup gun in Africa with a 4 bore ball????
It is chambered for the 4 inch brass case and the bores are 1 inch. I guess I could use it for deer hunting since I live in a area that only allows shotguns or muzzle loaders
