Just checking, there's no reason to have a 4 bore in Canada right? There's basically no place to hunt with one?

As a gauge it’s only prohibited from use for waterfowl, you can shoot grouse and quail with it if you like. EXCEPT our dear government in an effort to protect us all has declared them now illegal to own because the hole in the end of the barrel is too big. 8 gauge and larger are now a no-no.

I thought bill blair went on record saying hunting rifles were ok. This would be a flintlock too.

Being a flintlock, you'd be dealing with antique regs which at present are not clearly affected by the recent nonsense. That said, not clearly affected does not mean will not be or are not depending on interpretation.
There are plenty of reasons to own a 4 bore in Canada which was your actual question. Reasoning is not a relevant factor when it comes to firearms law in Canada. Others have made hunting suggestions, I could suggest wild pigs as a suitable target considering there aren't any real limits (including spears or your bare hands) on what you can harvest them with at least in MB.
