#4 mark1 info please

I've got a #4mark1 for sale and have no info on it. Can anyone tell me how I can go about finding out the manufacture date and such?

Check the left of the receiver or on the band where the but stock attaches (the but stock socket). Pictures would help also.

Canadian manufacture marked "LONGBRANCH" on the left receiver flat, Savage will have a square looking letter "S", BSA will be marked on the left side of the butt socket with either a letter "B" or "M47C" and the serial #, but not always the year. Maltby might have an "M" or might only have a serial #. FAZAKERLY will have "(F)" after the No.4 Mk.1. There are other variations, but these are the common ones.
