I’d judge the gun the way I judge every gun. Sometimes you can’t hold it first but consideration suggest it’s worth taking a chance.

Maybe a better way to put it is I don’t have any hard and fast RULES about what I will and won’t do. I judge each gun and buying situation on it’s own merits. And that’s has worked for me. IMHO I’ve made just one bad buying decision in the course of buying about 25-30 vintage SxS. And that was very early on, about 15 years ago, when I was young and stupid. Well, younger and stupider.;)

Yup, And that is what I was refering to. Everyone of those guys and everyone who uses the terms "exhibition" or "Grade 3" will apply them differently. Because it's subjective, there is no uniformity. All I can say is that a grade four will likely have good grain flow and/or look nice. Might be one, might be the other.
